 Uluru - Under Construction for 250 Million Years
Uluru, NWT, Australia
Although Uluru (formerly Ayer's Rock) is located in one of the driest spots on the planet, the first rain in five years had fallen for a week prior to our visit. The desert was blooming, frogs croaking, rivulets of water coursing off the rock, new ponds teeming with brine shrimp, and red-orange mud caking to our shoes and staining our clothes and skin. This picture was taken in late afternoon from a distance of three miles. See more Austrialia pictures or other family photos.
